In the middle of a rainstorm, there’s nothing better than a cup of tasty chicken Arroz Caldo to while away the blues. For this recipe, we make a healthier version of this favorite comfort food by replacing glutinous rice with a filling cup of Duru Bulgur.
What You’ll Need
Get everything prepped and ready to go. Here are the ingredients you’ll need to make a delicious bowl of Chicken Bulgur Arroz Caldo:
- 3 tablespoons of olive oil
- 1 diced onion
- 1 clove of crushed garlic
- 1 piece of fresh ginger
- 1/3 pounds of chicken wings
- 1 and a half tablespoons of fish sauce
- 6 cups of chicken broth
- 2 cups of Duru Coarse Bulgur
- 1 hard-boiled egg
What You’ll Do
The instructions are simple:
- Heat the olive oil in a pot over medium heat.
- Stir in the garlic, onion, and ginger until you can smell the aroma of these three ingredients together. Best to stir up to five minutes.
- Add the chicken wings and cook for about one minute.
- Add fish sauce onto the pot and cook for another three minutes.
- Pour the chicken broth into the bowl.
- Add the Duru Coarse Bulgur and stir gently. Wait for the pot to boil. Then, cover and cook for about 12 minutes.
- From time to time, stir the mixture so that the Bulgur will have a pleasant and creamy texture.
- Once you achieved the desired consistency, serve with a dash of salt and pepper. Squeeze in some Calamansi for a tangy taste. Add some scallions too if you like.
- To add more protein, anchor in a hard-boiled egg. Enjoy the meal. — (TGM)
