In this recipe, we transform this Valencian staple into a healthy and filling dish with the help of Duru Bulgur. Bulgur is a filling grain that hails from the Middle East. It has a chewy texture that comes in three sizes: extra coarse, coarse, and fine. To give the best possible Paella experience, we will use the Extra Coarse variant of bulgur, so that the grains mimic the consistency of its rice counterpart.

What you’ll need:

  • 2 tablespoons of sunflower oil
  • 1 clove of finely chopped garlic
  • 1 tablespoon of finely chopped onions
  • 200 grams of green beans
  • 1 cup of Extra Coarse Bulgur
  • 250 grams of shrimps
  • 15 pieces of mussels
  • 3 glasses of chicken broth
  • Salt and black pepper

Preparing this Paella dish is simple and straightforward:

  1. Sauté the onions and garlic lightly in a pan with medium heat.
  2. Add Extra Coarse Bulgur and continue with sautéing.
  3. Add shrimps, mussels and green beans and fry for 3 more minutes.
  4. Boil the chicken broth in a separate pan. Once done, add the boiled chicken broth into the pan.
  5. Add salt and black pepper and cook for approximately 15 – 20 minutes with low heat while the pan lid is closed. Then, enjoy this hearty meal with your special someone. — (TGM)
